German Studies Major

You have a choice between three versions of this Bachelor of Arts degree:

1. The main, stand-alone German Studies degree, which has a focus on cultural studies.
2. The German Studies, International Economics concentration, which requires the two business German courses and five courses in economics.
3. The German Studies, Science and Technology concentration, which can only be taken together with another major in the sciences, engineering, or some other fields outside of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, such as architecture.

All three versions of the degree require one full (4 month) semester of study abroad or an internship (at least 3 months) in a primarily German-speaking work environment in a German-speaking country. NC State has wonderful opportunities for study abroad, especially our popular UNC-EP program for study at any university in the southwest German state of Baden-Württemberg.

For information on opportunities for German-language study abroad, scholarships and internships abroad, see the following links:

You can view the Program Brochure by downloading the following Adobe File (you will need the Adobe Reader for this, which is available for free: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html).

The three curricula are also posted online on the Registration and Records web site. German Studies curricula with "078" in it were for students signing up until May 2009; after May 2009, new or transfer students choose from the curricula with "097" in the degree key:https://packtracks.acs.ncsu.edu/scripts/RegRec/ada_dgtt.pl?college=HUM_SOC_SCI

The eight-semester displays with all the important footnotes, for the new "097" degree keys are available here:
