5th International Workshop on Spanish Sociolinguistics

The North Carolina State University is proud to sponsor the 5th International Workshop on Spanish Sociolinguistics (WSS5). Topics based on original sociolinguistic research analyzing Spanish data or data from contact situations between Spanish and other languages will be given in 20 minute presentations and in a poster session. Papers and presentations will be delivered in Spanish and English. Selected papers will be published by Cascadilla Proceedings Project.

Walt Wolfram, William C. Friday Distinguished Professor of English, NC State University
Invited speakers:
Almeida Jacqueline Toribio, Professor of Spanish Linguistics, University of Texas at Austin
Scott Schwenter , Associate Professor of Spanish Linguistics, Ohio State University
Special presentation of the new documentary Spanish Voices by the North Carolina Language and Life project/NCSU Linguistics program.
Call for Proposals:
Abstract submission deadline is November 30, 2009. Abstracts are submitted anonymously through Linguist List's EasyAbs interface (http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/wss5). (You will be asked to choose if you want to be considered for a talk, a poster session, or both.)

Program:
Friday, April 10: Talks will be held in Room 3118 of the Talley Student Union Building. A buffet dinner
will be served Friday night in the Brownstone Hotel.
Saturday, April 11: Talks will be held in Room 232A Withers Hall. An evening reception will follow.
